Saturday, September 24th 65th Street & Broadway

Welcome to “The September Issue”.
Several fashion blogs out there are a series of photos of the blogger on a day-to-day basis, primped and fabulously posh, posing for the camera, donning artfully styled chic garb. I couldn’t see myself doing that, nor do I have the time; so instead I thought it would be fun to style and feature some of the looks I’ll be “working and rocking” this fall. “25 Days of Amazing Outfits”.

If you dissect each look, you’ll see timeless pieces (a classic jacket, skirt, trouser, blouse, tee or sweater) mixed and matched at times with a covetable novelty item updating the entire look.

I hope you’ll get some ideas from the looks I’ve posted for your own wardrobe to possibly reinvent your looks. Why not wear that abstract print blouse of yours with a plaid or stripe bottom instead of a solid one, or a tried and true “go-to” dress in your closet with a chunky cardigan sweater cinched with a wide belt or even a long sleeve turtleneck underneath. Keep things modern and fresh by mixing the colors and textures of your shoes and handbags (no “matchy-matchy” please). And don’t forget to make the look your own with accessories. I can’t stress enough, accessorize, accessorize, accessorize! Load up your wrist with bangles, or try matching cuffs on both, take a few strands of colorful pearls and wrap them around your neck mixed with some gold chunky link chains, or maybe try a modern sleek molded scuptural neck bib. Wear your hair in a trendy loose ponytail or messy chignon, and don extra large gold hoops to brighten up your face.

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK
I would be remiss not to mention “FASHION WEEK“. I participated in “Fashion Night Out” by attending the opening of the “Missoni for Target” grand opening of their pop up store. Along with several hundred other fashion devotees I waited on line for three and a half hours, (yes from 6:30 p.m. until 10:10 p.m.) just to get into the store which was erected for only 72 hours. Needless to say everything was just about sold out by the time we entered into the awe inspiring skeletal store; and it did not open for the remaining days!

To culminate Fashion Week I attended the “ARISE” magazine fashion show. The show featured seven African designers whose designs were modern, fresh and rivaled collections which grace national fashion magazines. There was something from every collection I simply adored, and could see myself wearing for Spring 2012! Oh, and what a way to end the show, with a great mini concert by Leona Lewis!
