IN FASHION:
The complete look…

Although we are in the midst of Summer 2014, and I should be reveling in the warmth of the sun along with its cool summer breezes I will admit from time to time I think of the upcoming Fall season, with anticipation. It is my favorite season, with all the cozy, yummy luxurious fabrics and glam footwear. I won’t jump the gun but will say I am waiting with bated breath for the Alexander Wang x collaboration with H&M. More talk of Fall trends in next months news letter.

Lately I’ve been obsessed with the details when it comes to fashion. I used to consider myself a minimalist, not concerned much with the details. I find myself more and more interested in the finishing touches…the little things that transform an ordinary look into an extraordinary look. Whether it be just the right statement necklace, perfect shoe or handbag to complete a look.

TRENDING

In Hair:
Just in time for the steamy days and nights of summer is the tousled twist look in hair as seen at Dolce and Gabbana and Lela Rose.

Simply take your center part, softly curled, loosely braided hair and place in a bun pulling out soft wisps to fall gently around your face.
Dolce Gabbana/Harpers Bazaar

For this option, hair is brushed sleek with a center part and swept into a low, messy chignon.

Or try a beautiful natural looking weave giving your tresses a break from the elements…or just go natural giving the flat iron a rest, embracing your natural locks.

In Handbags:

Seen in the handbag collections from Louis Vuitton and Valentino are some delicious soft palettes of dusty rose, dove, and blue/grey…so refreshing this summer, and these colors will transition nicely into Fall.

In Dolls:

Yes, I said dolls! Coming this Fall a Barbie Lagarfeld doll.

It’s definitely on my Fall shopping list! It’ll make a great collectible.

INTERIOR DESIGN

Often interior design mimics what is trending in the world of fashion.
I am loving this grayish blue hue similar to that seen in Valentino’s current color spectrum. It would make a great back drop for a masculine bedroom, contemporary living room, powder room, den or even the exterior of a home.

The linen and raffia upholstered chest with it highly polished nail-head embellishment is quiet refreshing. An upholstered headboard is always a nice way to add texture to a bedroom space. A bit of Chinoiserie details are always welcomed in my design aesthetic, here in an area rug. Sumptuous drapery elevates any room; and to accent this cool, enticing color try, gunmetal or highly polished silver metal. These finishes are my preference as well as rich deeply mahogany wood to complement and ground this hue for a sleek contemporary feel.
